Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning (MACUL)  Conference, Detroit, MI, 2016

The MACUL Conference ignites learning through meaningful collaboration and innovation.  I attended sessions intended for kindergarteners and lower elementary students. From this conference, I have learned how to manage and give students choice of using digital literacy for readers and writers workshop. I also have began to use seesaw to collaborate with families and share student work.  â€‹This conference motivated me to begin passion time in my classroom using donors choose to help with my funding.

Lake Orion Technology in Education Conference, Lake Orion, MI, 2015

The Lake Orion Technology in Education Conference was put on by the technology specialists in our district. I learned how to clean up the apps on my iPad categorizing them by subject and only using apps that were age appropriate, easy to use, aligned with common core standards, and matched our curriculum. This helped me transform my intervention time. During small group intervention time students who I am not working with rotate through centers, one of which is an iPad station. At this station students are able to find the apps they wish to use on their own and can use them independently allowing me to give my full attention to students in my small group.

Teachers College Reading and Writing Workshop Training, Lake Orion, MI, 2015

This training provided me knowledge on the workshop model. Each part of the lesson was broken down and taught on a beginning level. We watched many videos of teachers teaching these lessons as well as observed teachers in my building teaching and then were able to ask them questions when they were finished. I also learned about literacy as a whole and what the term balanced literacy means. I learned how to create time in my daily schedule to fit in balanced literacy. Students were brought in to practice teaching lessons and as well as conferring. I use this knowledge in my classroom every single day.

Michigan State University Technology in Education Conference, East Lansing, MI, 2013

This conference was put on by the College of Education at Michigan State University and was a free conference for students. I was student teaching at the time and not very familiar with technology in my classroom. The learning that stuck with me the most that I still use today is how to use my interactive smart board to it's full potential that is both beneficial in my teaching and my student's learning. I learned how to download lessons, create interactive morning meetings,  shade test questions, drag and drop and how to duplicate. The picture on the right is the certificate I earned from attending this conference.

Michigan Reading Association Conference, Volunteer, Grand Rapids, MI, 2013

This was my first educational conference that I attended while I was student teaching. I was able to help run a booth and also attend different sessions. The key note speaker was the author of Wonder, R. J. Palacio. Listening to her story and her message of accepting all students made me a better teacher. I also learned alot about Word Study in one session and still use the information today. I learned about what word study was and the meaning behind teaching phonics. I learned how to teach it efficiently and effectively and engage students with picture sorts, word hunts, and games.

The Leader in Me Training, Waterford, MI, 2013

I was introduced to The Leader in Me program while student teaching at Waterford Village Elementary School. The program consists of kid-friendly books with a characters who students can relate to. He practices seven habits. Students throughout the entire school know these habits and refer to them regularly. In my current school we do not have this program but I was able to bring conscious disciple into my classroom which is being in charge of your own actions and self-regulating. This is similar to the teachings in The Leader in Me program. I also still use the habits language in my classroom today and read the books to my students as I believe it is powerful and impactful in their life and in my own life.
